What is it? What is it with the NHS? What happened to the “service” in health service?
I write this because my mother nearly died a month ago thanks to her being given the cheapest meds the doctors practice can buy compromising her health. And I have been stewing like steak thinking whether or not to blog about it. But if I don’t then some people will die or be close to doing so,
She has type 2 diabetes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetes_mellitus
, diverticuli http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diverticulitis (which I suffer from as well and future step mum in law)
and crohns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crohn's_disease )
So she isn’t in the best of health as it well is. But to treat these conditions instead of being given life prolonging drugs they have given her life threatening CHEAP alternatives.
She has been suffering with the diabetes and diverticuli for a while, but being rushed to hospital a month ago they found out about the crohns.
Now she was living here in Kent up to a year ago before moving to the east of the country. So here in kent she was ushered to various hospitals and such for her complaints especially her bowel problems (and me as well - it’s a cattle market) now where she lives now, they are brilliant at screening for various illness’s but here in lowly, forgotten kent they are not a quarter as good.
From my experience since 2007 when I started getting these massive pains on the left side, they did basically not a lot. Same as my poor dad. Hes practically dying from thybrosis but again here in kent his health has been taken less seriously then it is up in Norfolk.
With my problems, I was pulled about like a rag doll, had appointments at the most inconvenient of times miles from where I am living. Last summer in Folkestone at the Derry unit (im going to out them for this terrible reason) I was made to wait FOREVER for a camera to be inserted in my urethra. The world and his wife were seen first even though I was supposed to be an early patient. But the consultant was fashionably late. So the appointments were jigged about. No-one told me did they muggings here. So im last in they put the local down my thingy then wait for it DIDN’T WAIT FOR IT TO WORK OR GO NUMB and shoved the fliiping optic down to m bladder!!! I screamed like a woman giving freebirth. And the smirks on their faces said it all……..SADISTS. Oh by the way it was lunch time so those ANIMALS wanted their NOSEBAG………
NOW A YEAR ON im still getting the odd pain and im STILL peeing blood and I have been for years but I would rather DIE than let any of those people touch me again!!! That’s what it is like here in kent. Second rate service. Are you ill? Oh its viral. You don’t need meds. Nearly half dead - it’ll blow away. Bleeding profusely? Now here’s a band aid for your 6 inch gaping wound.
THAT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH IS IT? Why should we here be given second rate service with second rate drugs. I thought life was supposed to be precious? Well I must have read the book wrong then.
For stuff like cancer, diabetes and breathing problems, you can not take any chances. Diabetics especially are given cheap drugs because doctor moneybags has had a special deal from a Mr D.rug-company. Being paid quangos and sniftas and a lean to for the pet dog. Or that gold plated patio set from Harrods or a guard of honour at the porch barbeque. And steroids? Man they make you super size in a few years with more chins than a herd of hippos put together. And the water round your knees and the pain and the uncomfortableness.
Sounds funny doesn’t it for a DEADLY BUSINESS. But have you noticed when you see the quack and get say your antibiotics, they are of a certain brand. So imagine the docs on their hols and you see a locum, you will be prescribed different antibiotics. You say “but doctor faceless gave me these last week I want THOSE ones. But locum features gives you THEIR choice. Because they have deals with mr D, rug-company. Its true try it when the orig doc comes back.are they going to give you what the locum prescribed - hell no its their choice what you get.
Some of these diabetic drugs have REALLY BAD side FX for instance your legs can blister, your body bloat, your sugars gone to the pub and your heads had a grand piano dropped on it look here http://www.diabetes.co.uk/features/diabetes-medication-side-effects.html
Now are these drugs people get prescribed a quick fix? Must be if you think about it. Because your life with diabetes extremely shortens it some would be lucky to reach 40. Now that’s not much of a life is it? Someone who I used to have a relationship with was diabetic. One day she brought half the national library to my flat and said “if you wanna be my boyfriend - you got to read these”
So every night when she went home I had a read and MY GOD its frightening. I know what to do If I see a hypo in the street but some lucky people have hypo dogs - specially trained if the person has an attack. But some hypos would be brought on by these cheap drugs. FYI a hypo is a shortened medical term for a diabetic attack. Not nice!
So if you have a debilitating illness like diabetes or crohns, cancer or other frankly NASTY diseases. DON’T SETTLE FOR 2ND BEST. If you have had problems because of the drugs then change them, if the doc wont listen, change your doc. Have a moan at the health authority or representative - ITS YOUR LIFE!!! You only have ONE, don’t let them play judge jury and EXECUTIONER with it.
Now for the last month I have been like a bear with a sore head because my mum was denied proper treatment. And other s are being denied it. Where my future step mum in law lives in Devon its even worse than here. They have made her body a complete mess. She has NO immune system. She was supposed to have her innards put back but they “lost” them so now she has to have a “bag”. you can Google that yourself. My dinners nearly ready.
Thanks for reading
THESE ARE MY OWN THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCES and not kentonlines thanks
